Before your appointment Arrive ready. We’ll take it from there.
A little preparation can make your Redwood appointment feel smoother from the moment you arrive. Here’s what to wear, what to bring and what we may need to know before treatment begins.
Before you set off.
You don’t need to prepare extensively. These simple points help us spend more of your appointment focusing on you.
Wear comfortable clothing
Choose something you can move easily in. Depending on the treatment area, your practitioner may need access to part of the back, shoulders, legs or another relevant area.
Keep normally hydrated
There is no need for a special hydration routine. Simply avoid arriving feeling unnecessarily dehydrated and let us know if you are feeling unwell on the day.
Avoid arriving straight after a large meal
Comfort matters during hands-on treatment. If possible, give yourself enough time after a substantial meal to feel comfortable lying or moving during the session.
Bring useful information
If there is something relevant to your treatment — for example medication details, a recent diagnosis or guidance from another healthcare professional — having that information available can help the consultation.
Tell us anything that could affect suitability.
Your consultation is there for a reason. You do not need to decide what is or isn’t relevant by yourself — if you are unsure, mention it and your practitioner can decide whether it needs to be considered.
Contact Redwood before your appointmentTell us about relevant ongoing conditions, recent illness, significant injury, surgery or changes in your health.
Some medication can affect treatment choice or suitability. This is particularly important where bruising, bleeding or skin response may be relevant.
Let us know about broken skin, active irritation, allergies or sensitivity in an area that may be treated.
If you are pregnant, receiving other treatment, or simply unsure whether something matters, tell Redwood before or during your consultation.
Redwood treatments are not a replacement for medical diagnosis or emergency care. If you have severe, sudden or unexplained symptoms, seek appropriate medical advice rather than relying on a therapy appointment.
Different sessions.
Different considerations.
The fundamentals are similar, but the type of treatment you have booked can change what is most useful to think about beforehand.
Movement-friendly clothing helps.
Your practitioner may assess movement before treatment, so clothing that lets you move comfortably is useful.

Cups are applied directly to the skin. Your practitioner will explain positioning, privacy and suitability before treatment.
View Cupping → Wet Cupping HijamaShare medication and bleeding-related information.
Because Hijama involves the skin, it is especially important to mention medication, conditions or other factors that could affect bleeding, healing or skin suitability.
View Hijama → Performance SessionsThink about what you want from the session.
If there is a movement, training demand or problem area you want assessed, be ready to explain when you notice it and what you would like to improve.
View Performance Session →Your first few minutes are part of the appointment.
Redwood does not jump straight into treatment. Your session starts with a conversation and assessment so the plan makes sense for you on that day.
We discuss what you want from the session, relevant history and anything that has changed since booking.
Where appropriate, your practitioner looks at movement, tension or the area you want addressed.
The treatment approach is explained and agreed before the hands-on part of the appointment begins.
Your session is delivered according to suitability, followed by practical aftercare guidance where relevant.
